David Ratowitz, JD/MBA is the founder of the Ratowitz Law Group, where he provides legal advice and representation for clients with tax, debt, real estate and collection issues in the greater Chicago Area. David is passionate about helping clients successfully navigate past financial difficulties and back onto solid financial ground. David has a 20-plus year history of analyzing financial positions and charting paths to resolution of tax and other debt problems.
David has guided many business owners through resolution of payroll tax and other debt issues resulting out of changed business circumstances and even fraud. Recently, David assisted small businesses from restaurant owners to contractors and other self-employed persons, in resolving liabilities brought on by COVID-19 lockdowns.

Prior to starting his own law firm in 2007, David ran his own real estate investment company focused on historic renovations in New Orleans, LA. David managed his company’s turnaround after Hurricane Katrina which devastated most of his housing stock and renovation projects. Prior to that, David was an Army officer and served in Korea and the 82nd Airborne Division.
David is active in his community, serving in the Chicagoland Toys For Tots Motorcycle Parade organization, and as an Assistant Scoutmaster and Merit Badge Counselor for the BSA. David is a Mason, a Moose, a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and offers pro-bono work for Chicago Volunteer Legal Services.
David earned his Law degree and MBA from Tulane University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from the University of Iowa. When not working David loves to be in the great outdoors as well as riding and tinkering with his motorcycle. David also enjoys home brewing, pickling and is rumored to be an excellent chef.
